This program offers mental health professionals an introduction to offering neurodiversity affirming counseling. The program explores basic terminology, the history of the neurodiversity movement and intersectional movements. The program explores necessary foundational topics such as depatholigizing ADHD & Autistic identity and understanding ableism, internalized ableism, and unlearning internalized ableism as a therapeutic tool.
Utilizing a visual presentation and conversational video & audio, the presenter facilitates the learning objectives.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Define neurodiversity affirming basic terminology and describe cultural language shifts within the neurodivergent community; Describe the history of the neurodiversity movement and intersectional cultural movements.
• Explain the benefits of providing neurodiversity affirming services to neurodivergent clients; Define the necessity of neurodiversity affirming services as a cultural competency.  
• Describe differences in ADHD & Autistic identities and experiences. 
• Describe ableism, internalized ableism and explain the importance of unlearning interalized ableism as a therapeutic tool.
